Women Can Drive and Deal, too!

May 22nd, 2005 by kim

I hate having to fill up my van with gas. I hate having to wait for it fill up. And I hate when I get gas spilled on my hands. I usually let my van run until the “YOU NEED GAS” light starts beeping at me, and then I fill it up full. I currently have a 2003 Ford Windstar, and it costs about $45 to fill it.

I found a site that compares the lowest gas prices in your area. It doesn’t work for small-never-heard-of places like where I live, but all major metro areas are listed for both US and Canada.

Speaking of my van, my warranty runs out at 36,000 miles, and I am a little over 1000 miles away from that. So, I’ve decided I like the comfort of a new vehicle under warranty, that I’m looking for something new.

I like the new concept of the SUV/Van combos. I really like the Kia Sedona, but the nearest Kia dealer is over 150 miles away, and that is too far is I would need it serviced and such. My absolute favorite (and the kids’) I’ve researched so far is the Pontiac Montana SV6, although it is the most expensive of my finds. I’m also considering the Chevy Uplander as it is a bit less expensive.

I think I can deal with the best of them to get the best price on a vehicle, probably better than most men can, BUT for some reason (IMO), car salesmen treat men better than women treating them less superior (and therefore less intelligent). So, I hope to find a male friend (or bribe my brother) to waste a day (and why does buying a vehicle take SO long?!) and go with me when I am ready to deal. Any takers? I’m off to read Edmund’s Car Buying for Women Guide.
