I’ve been wanting one of those new-spangled silicone pans, so was excited to get a heart shaped one for $2.49 at Target’s 75% off Valentine’s Day Stuff. The girls have been begging to bake something in it. So, I mixed up a Cherry Chip cake mix (my favorite kind, plus I thought how fitting to make a pink cake in the shape of a heart). I sprayed some cheap-alternative-to-Pam spray in it, poured in the batter and popped it in the oven. I placed the pan on a cookie sheet, but not sure that is necessary? I was afraid it would melt.
Then I’m digging through the cupboard for a can of frosting while it’s baking. And I have none! So, I thought I’d be Ms. Betty Homemaker and get out the mixer and make some homemade Fluffy White Frosting. Turned out pretty well I must admit.
When the cake gets done, it popped right out of the pan perfectly! The kids wanted to eat it while it was still too warm to frost. Needless to say, the cake got all eaten before I could frost it! And I’m in love with the silicone concept. I am going to buy some muffin pans, as I presume no cupcake liners will be necessary as they should pop right out.
So, now I have all this frosting that is too good to throw out. I made some frozen cinnamon rolls this morning to use it with and may get ambious enough to make frosted sugar cookies later today.
