After living in this house for twelve years, I have accumulated a lot of “junk”. It doesn’t help that I am somewhat of a pack rat plus I stockpile. But as my new house gets closer to completion, which mean moving, I knew I had to tackle the excess abundancies in the house. So, yesterday, we had a garage sale.
My current house is in a good location for a rummage sale: a corner lot, on the way to the state recreational lake, so we get a lot of traffic on a nice spring / summer day. I decided to tackle my “free room” first. Do I really need umpteen coffee makers when I don’t even drink coffee? (Have you gotten a free coffee maker from Gevalia yet?) And I decided instead of saving all of the great towels I got from an Amazon deal for wedding gifts, I threw them in the wash, and decided we will use them ourselves and throw out the old worn out ones!
We ended up making over $500 at the sale, but still have a lot of “junk” left. I plan to tackle a few more areas of the house, and have another a sale later. And what doesn’t sell is either going to Goodwill or the trash, as I am not moving it! Honestly, I think the tax-deduction for donating would probably be worth more money (and easier) than having a garage sale!
