My youngest daughter has been watching re-runs of 80’s shows on Nick at Nite. She started telling me about a “new” show she’s been watching and described the characters. “Saved the Bell?” I asked. “How’d you know?!” She couldn’t believe that I knew what she was talking about, and I had to explain that it wasn’t a new show, but actually an old one.
VH1 has been airing a show about childhood stars from the eighties, “Where are they now?” Seems they tend to focus mainly on ones overcome drug addictions (ie Saved by the Bell’s Lisa’s cocaine addiction).
Well, I just read an article in the newspaper about “Screech needs to be saved again”. Seems Dustin Diamond is trying to raise $250,000 by selling t-shirts so his house doesn’t become foreclosed upon. See all the details at GetDShirts.com. I personally think it’s more of a publicity stunt, and he’ll end up being booked on the late night talk shows just like Karyn Bosnak did after asking people to help her pay off her credit card bills at SaveKaryn.com. (I am anxious to read her new book “20 Times a Lady”)
Hmmm, maybe I should start begging strangers to help fund my new house and shoot for stardom! I can lay out a sob story as good as anyone. No, I don’t want any handouts or publicity. I just want to be happy.
