Fourteen years ago today, I was lying in a hospital bed with my feet above my head getting pumped full of meds to try to stop labor with my twins, as I was only 27 weeks along. But the strong-willed girls decided today was the day and were born over three months early weighing two pounds each. I call them my “million dollar miracle babies”. You can read about their rough start in life here.
For their “party”, we took some of their friends out to eat pizza and to the movie, 27 Dresses (good chick flick, btw) on Friday night. Then today, my mom had us out for a spaghetti lunch and cake. We even mastered some microwave caramel popcorn.
I hadn’t gotten either girl a birthday present as Macy is extremely picky about everything, whereas Mallory is content and “doesn’t need anything.” So, after lunch we went to the mall, and I thought I’d let the girls pick out their own presents. Hours later we walked out with nothing, as Macy couldn’t decide on anything (within budget), and Mallory actually had found a pair of DC shoes she liked, but the cheapskate in me couldn’t justify $60 for some shoes she’ll outgrow. I promised to look online to see if I could get them for less. I love shoe shopping….
